FINAL DISPLAY FOR EXHIBITION

EXHIBITION

DISPLAY OF WORK

This is a panorama photograph of my final work up for display. The exhibition comprises of six pieces (three large, three small). All work is suspended by fishing wire. Each piece is made from a different material.

SMALL PORTRAITS

FINAL PIECES FOR EXHIBITION

POLYCARBONATE PAINTINGS AND PEELED PORTRAIT

I wanted to include some of my previous works that were produced on a smaller scale. These pieces show more detail than the larger paintings which for me are more successful and would like to push these further. I wanted to show a contrast between the large outcomes and the smaller outcomes.

These pieces were suspended also, to keep in the same hanging systems. I used a bamboo stick attached to the ceiling by hooks and suspended the paintings by the fishing wire. The smaller painting also give the glowing colourful shadows when light passes through.

PAINTING ON BOARD

FINAL PIECE FOR EXHIBITION

PAINTING ON BOARD

PLYBOARD

I wanted to go back to painting but use the same techniques as in the other paintings. I used acrylic paint, PVA glue and salt to create this piece. I added in tissue paper in areas to create extra texture. I painting expressively allowing paint to run, blur and spread into one another creating interesting and textural trails.

This piece was again suspended with fishing wire. I was all my pieces to be suspended to allow the view to see how the pieces were made. The painting was suspended on an angle to give a modern feel to the outcome and to fit in with the series that were already suspended.

PERSPEX PORTRAIT

FINAL PIECE FOR EXHIBITION

PERSPEX PORTRAIT

PERSPEX SHEET

This is one of my final pieces for the exhibition. I produced this portrait on perspex with ink, PVA glue and salt. This outcome is the least successful I feel as it is to simplistic. I would like to rework this piece and add in extra detail and depth. At the moment the painting is too flat.

The perspex sheet is suspended from brackets that are attached to the wall and suspended from fishing wire to create a floating effect. I have suspended the piece to allow light to travel through to give vibrant shadows on the wall behind.

PEELED PORTRAIT

FINAL PIECE FOR EXHIBITION

PEELED PORTRAIT

This is the outcome of my large peel experiment. I feel that this peel has turned out successful but could be worked on further. I am happy with the display but the overall piece could have had more detail worked in. I will carry on with this style but will push the boundaries even further by going even bigger. The consistency of materials used is highly important.

This peel is suspended from the ceiling with fishing wire. I wanted to give the effect to the viewer that the piece is floating freely. By having the piece suspended allows the viewer to analyse the back of the art as well as the front. My work is about transparent and vibrant colours. The light can shine through making the colours more vibrant to the outcome.

KALEIDOSCOPE EFFECTS

FRAGMENTATION OF PAINTINGS

Using a kaleidoscope effect, I created these outcomes. Although they are completely diverse to my current practice I feel this is an area that could be pushed further. I have taken photographs of my paintings and have manipulated them into fragmented pieces – influenced by the broken stained glass windows previously shown.

PEELED PORTRAIT

This is my first attempt of producing my peeled portraits on a large scale. I have been working on an A4 – A3 canvas as of now. I am looking to produce an 8FT X 4FT peel – everything will be scaled up. I have to be consistent and ensure that the combination of ink, water and PVA glue is even before the application.

LET THE EXPERIMENTING BEGIN!!

WATERED DOWN INK AND PVA

I have been experimenting with watered down inks and PVA glue on polycarbonate sheets. The outcomes are more transparent and opaque than previous examples. I am fascinated by the movement of the liquid form and the trails of patterns made. I will take these forward and produce a portrait.
